Wolakota Regenerative Buffalo Range
REGENERATING INDIGENOUS ECOSYSTEMS
The Wolakota Buffalo Range is a dynamic project that is regenerating the Indigenous ecosystems of land, people, and economy of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate. Wolakota is a 28,000-acre cattle-to-bison conversion on the Rosebud Reservation that will be home to 1,500 head of buffalo, making it the largest Native-owned and managed herd.
Wolakota is an impact-driven project that addresses two of humanities great existential crises: climate change and social inequity.
