Through the REDCO farming group, we currently manage over 3,800 acres of farmland and are working to expand that amount. Our farmers specialize in a diverse set of operations that maximize yield while minimizing environmental damage, so that we can both feed our children today and prepare their environment for tomorrow.
We are also working on a food sovereignty initiative as part of the Keya Wakpala Green Development Project, which provides land for local people to plant their own vegetables. This has been a great success. During the harvest season, there is a farmer’s market to allow the broader community to benefit from the work of their peers.
