Scope of Responsibility:

 

The Lakota Learner will spend 6 hours a day, 5 days a week for three years learning the Lakota Language in an Immersion style setting taught by a fluent Lakota instructor. The learner will be expected to attend all Lakota language classes and will be required to attend any activities/events designed for the Lakolya Waoniya initiative. Learners will be required to help create language materials to be used for the public such as videos, books, and posters and will aid in the creation of Lakota media library.

Eligibility:

​

Interested applicants must meet the following criteria:

• 18 years or older

• Proof of Rosebud Sioux Tribal enrollment (Tribal Abstract OR Tribal ID Card)

   

• Possess a strong desire to keep the Lakota language and culture alive through teaching

• Live in or near the Rosebud Reservation

• Ability to pass a background check 

• Available Monday-Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM
